Death: A self-portrait. The Richard Harris Collection
15th November 2012 - 24th February 2013

Wellcome Collection 183 Euston Road London NW1 2BE

300 works devoted to the iconography of death. Art works - Rembrandt, Goya, Durer, Renaissance vanitas paintings - contemporary works, historical artefacts - ancient Incan skulls, antique metamorphic postcards - scientific specimens and drawings, war art, ephemera from across the world and  an installation celebrating Mexico’s Day of the Dead. Promises to be a spectacular and diverse collection of images.
No mention of comic book art which considering it’s creator’s  fascination and constant return to the subject strikes me as a missed opportunity.

Yes, some Judge Death material in there would have been most welcome! Not Richard Harriss of "Camelot "and "This Sporting Life " fame obviously.

Kind Regards,

Andy.

Hullo Andy,
no not that one.
Since seen images of many of the other stuff in the exhibition and it does contain a wider variety of lovely things than I have shown.
Comics and death might make a blog when I have time.
Best,
Arthur

We look forward to that then Arthur, I guess comics and death have been inextricably linked since pretty much day one.
Cheers,
Andy.

Hullo Andy,
don't hold your breath. Presently struggling to find a comfortable working relationship with the new laptop takes all my concentration.
It would be interesting to research though.
Best,
Arthur
