We need to have words.

Comics are  famously a narrative combining words and pictures. It could  be said  that this site gives evidence of a  bias toward images - attention more usually directed at visual artists than at the writers they illustrate. To redress the balance here for the lovers of language are some examples of words from comics and newspaper strips. These give no indication of the authors abilities at plotting or story telling.

RIP R.A. Kosasih

Senior Indonesian comic artist and writer  Raden Ahmad Kosasih ( 4th April 1919 - 24th. July 2012 ) has died of a heart attack on at the age of 93. Better known as R.A.Kosasih he was regarded in his country as the father of comic strip art, a local Jerry Seigal or Joe Schuster. A ‘Komikus Legendaris‘.

Grant Morrison, writer well know for his individualistic scripting in comics  ( All-Star Superman, Animal Man, Batman and Robin, Batman R.I.P., The Filth Final Crisis. The Invisibles, Seven Soldiers, and  Zenith ) is on the honours list as being awarded  Member of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire "for services to Film and Literature."

More me and Look-in

This the remainder of the correspondence between me and an earnest inquiirer about Look-in and a little more.Thanks for all the pictures. Much of this stuff I don’t have copies of. It’s a bit spooky seeing it all.It is obvious I was still struggling to find my own style. Apart from drawing every strip in a somewhat different way there are influences from different sources.

R.I>P. Maurice Sendak

While still at high school, Maurice Sendak - June 10th 1928 - May 5th 2012 - worked for All-American Comics doing backgrounds and supplying storylines for the Mutt and Jeff strip. In 1951 he illustrated his first book.  He went on to write his own stories. Where the Wild Things Are the most well known of the more than 100 books he illustrated and the 20 he wrote and illustrated .
